One of the first questions buyers ask is “what is the MOQ?” For oral pouch packaging machines the honest answer is: usually one unit for a machine, and it is the lead time and the trial process that matter more than a minimum quantity.
Machine MOQ is usually one
A packaging machine is a capital item, not a consumable. Most builders – including us – will sell a single SK250 or PM180L4. Where MOQ shows up is on consumables and spare parts: sealing jaws, augers, and wear items often have a small batch minimum because they are machined to order.
The smart path: sample before you commit
Instead of debating MOQ, run a trial. Send your pouch to our SK40 sampling machine, get a validated bag, then decide on the production line. This de-risks the purchase far more than a volume discount would.
Lead time, broken down
- Engineering and sampling: days to a couple of weeks once we have your pouch.
- Production: typically a few weeks for a single machine, longer for a multi-lane line with can feeding.
- Factory acceptance test (FAT): runs with your blend before shipment – budget a few days.
- Packaging and freight: crated sea or air; transit depends on route and Incoterms.
Ask for the FAT date in writing. That is the real commitment, not the quote date.
How to shorten lead time
- Send a physical pouch sample early – sampling runs in parallel with design.
- Standardise on a proven lane configuration instead of a one-off custom frame.
- Confirm Incoterms and destination port up front so freight is booked, not guessed.
What actually moves price
Not MOQ – it is lane count, dosing precision, sealing method, and downstream integration (counting, check-weighing, can filling). A clear spec gets you a fixed price faster than a volume promise.
